I’m sharing my experience to caution anyone considering buying a dog from or doing business with Oliver Neubrand of vom Hause Neubrand Rottweilers.
When I first inquired about the pictured 14-month-old Rottweiler, Oliver Neubrand assured me that the dog was "still young but... large (67 cm tall) and close to 50 kg." He also stated that the dog was "in regular training for protection and basic obedience." Based on these representations, I agreed to purchase the dog at a premium price, expecting a strong, well-trained, healthy Rottweiler puppy from a reputable Rottweiler breeder.
However, when the dog arrived, it was immediately clear that something was wrong. He was significantly smaller—only 63 cm tall and 41 kg in weight. The video on this page shows the dog weighing 90.6 lbs or 41 kg, a full 9 kg (20 lbs) less than what Oliver Neubrand wrote. Worse, the dog displayed no signs of even basic obedience, and his poor biting of the sleeve suggested he had received almost no protection or bite-work training.
The trainer I hired, who has over 30 years' experience training and competing Rottweilers in America and Germany, said it was obvious Otis had no obedience or bite work training. I spent $5,000 US to have Otis trained to the level of basic obedience training (sit, stay, down, heel) a 14-month old Rottweiler should have at a minimum. When I have them from 8-weeks old they have this level of training at four months. Providing no training to a Rottweiler by 14-months of age is unforgiveable. They are so much more difficult to train at that age than when they are little puppies that are little sponges absorbing everything they are taught.
To make matters worse, the dog arrived visibly ill and suffering from severe diarrhea. After spending thousands of dollars on veterinary care, I was informed that he suffers from chronic intestinal issues and will require expensive prescription food for the rest of his life. It has been nine months since I got Otis and his severe diarrhea is barely controlled by the prescription dog food. He still frequently has diarrhea.
And if all that was not bad enough, Mr. Neubrand did not transfer ownership of the dog to me and did not provide an export pedigree so that I could register the dog with the AKC or compete or show him. In fact, the only document provided was the dog's passport with vaccination information. That was it. No pedigree and nothing I can use to show the dog or compete him with. I bought the dog to show and compete him and I cannot do anything with him because I have no paperwork showing I own him or that he has a pedigree.
I contacted Oliver to express my concerns and to ask for an explanation. Instead of acknowledging the discrepancies, he became defensive, denied everything, and accused me of lying. This response only confirmed what I now believe: Oliver Neubrand knowingly misrepresented the dog to make a quick sale and had no intention of standing by his promises.
In short, I paid top dollar for a dog that was misrepresented in size, training, and health. I was misled by false claims and treated with complete disregard when I raised valid concerns.
I am currently looking for a lawyer in Germany to sue Oliver Neubrand and vom Hause Neubrand Rottweilers. They cannot be allowed to rip-off other unsuspecting dog buyers.
If you're considering doing business with vom Hause Neubrand Rottweilers, I strongly urge you to proceed with extreme caution. In my experience, Oliver Neubrand of vom Hause Neubrand Rottweilers is not a trustworthy breeder, and his word cannot be relied upon.
